Super important update(s) re: Book 3! 👀

If you're looking at the header of this email wondering, Wait...what's that? Something new?

Yes.

Something new, something that I honestly should have anticipated but my stubborn butt refused to admit I'd probably/definitely get deep into the lore...

Book 3 has a new title & cover!

Why?

Because despite getting rid of "fluff" (Roxi has emotions, we get it), I found myself rushing through sections to keep the pace rolling so we wouldn't end up with 80 chapters of "hi & bye" dialogue, glossed-over depictions, and brief references to things that are actually super important for the whole series storyline.

By the time I got to the halfway point, it felt like I'd strapped athletic footwear onto both Roxi and Devon so they'd fly through to the end...

...and that felt gross.

What's changing:

  • Stronger introductions to new characters in both Song of the Sidhe and The White City (yes, this is the crossover!)
  • Deeper, richer lore & fantasy dives in both Chicago and the Night Realm
  • More time actually exploring the Night Realm & its fantastical creatures
  • Book 3 is now going to be a reasonable size, cost, and overall reading experience
  • Book 4 is now Blood of Balor, which should also be a reasonable size, cost and overall reading experience

What's NOT changing:

  • Everything is still on schedule for ARC distribution (late August/early September 2026) with the anticipated publishing date of September 30, 2026
  • Everything I showcased as the prologue and Chapter One are set in stone and definitely still those things for Book 3
  • What is now Blood of Balor (Book 4) truly is also remaining the same—I'd already outlined and drafted the vast majority, which is what also alerted me to "oh...this might be a chunker" 😆
    • Okay so I realize I said this exact same thing about Heir of Oberon but I promise! I'm learning and growing and also praying I can just wrap this one up and get it out ASAP, too!

If you haven't read any of The White City series, this is your nudge

As I'm writing this, my alarm set to remind me to post the next chapter of Sinners & Starlight (Book 1 of The White City) just blared and I'm head-thumping the couch behind me because I forgot to do that.

Again.

I will be scheduling and posting each chapter weekly on Saturdays at 8pm CST for everyone/anyone who loves serialized fiction.

But for those of you who prefer completed novels, Lords & Thieves (prequel novella to both series) is already out on Substack and Kindle/Kobo/etc., and the first full novel, Sinners & Starlight, will be debuting soon as a completed ebook and paperback. As with the main series, you'll be the first to know dates and to get the completed ARCs for your enjoyment!

Reasons why you'll love The White City:

  • It's the "companion series" to Song of the Sidhe, so a lot of references to the Otherworld and characters will feel familiar (remember the prologue in Heir of Oberon? That's important!)
  • This technically ranks as "urban fantasy", so if you're looking for some fantasy romance but in a more comfortable/familiar setting: it's 100% in downtown Chicago
  • The core main characters for each of the 7 planned books are pretty freakin' awesome:
    • A weary crime boss who remembers way too much and has zero f**** to give at this point
    • A "motorcycle club" president with a soft spot for kids and marginalized people
    • A powerful, elitist attorney who spent her entire life as a scarred Changeling
    • A priest with the miraculous gift of healing and a stubborn resolve that's about to be broken
    • A private investigator-turned-social worker determined to find someone emulating one of the worst serial killers in Chicago's history
    • A traveling illusionist/magician whose "tricks" are a bit too "real" (wink wink)
    • A museum curator whose exhibits are about to become "evidence" of a reality the Outworld has long forgotten

It's not Required Reading, but it does help fill in the lore of Song of the Sidhe in regards to everything still going on in Chicago

Queen of Night introduces Cade Devoy—our leading man in The White City's prequel and Book 1—who holds significant importance both in the history of the Night Realm and the goings-on of Chicago's fae underworld. So even if you don't read about him in his own book(s), you'll still get to meet him and his "lovely" penchant for blunt honesty and slightly ADD mentality 😅
